SEEKR Life Feature: Living.Simple_Van

One happy factor of having the most popular fan in Australia RV'ing is we get to connect with all types of mobile home owners. We have our grey nomads, family travelers, couples, singles, and everything else... whatever that is (cats and dogs?). We love hearing how the Sirocco II fan is making caravan camping better, the rigs they've been installed in, and where those rigs are carrying their owners - because it's always somewhere really great!

Dan and Chels are in the couple category, though they might add a puppy soon! Everyone we talk to is an advocate for the caravan lifestyle, but Dan and Chels' enthusiasm really leaps off the page. These folks are all-in for 24/7 vanlife AND they run their Sirocco fans the whole time. See for yourself below!

Tell us about yourself. Why’d you choose your lifestyle? How long have you been at it? Any plans for the near future? Distant future?

We are Chelsea and Dan from @living.simple_van  or YouTube channel (chelseajades). We have been living in our tiny home on wheels for almost 2 years. We chose to live in a van so we could freely move around our beautiful country Australia whilst living a slow, nature based, adventurous lifestyle. We converted our van ourselves and absolutely love living in a ‘tiny home’ because we feel it suits our lifestyle, our passions and also allows us to live a little differently. Our future plan is to build our next tiny home in our Toyota Coaster bus we just bought. We’re super excited for this next chapter of our lives.

Where are you right now, where were you before, and where are you going next?

We both grew up in South Australia as very adventurous yet semi chilled people, so this lifestyle really suits our personalities with a mixture between constantly being surrounded by surf, mountain biking, skateboarding and fast paced adventure…whilst also being surrounded by the chill factor of nature, yoga, slow walks and alone time.

We both don’t often plan a lot in life and take it as it comes so our future plans are always changing...maybe next we’ll be moving to an orchard interstate to work, or maybe we’ll be driving the wild roads to a place unknown…essentially, we have no idea where our next destination will be BUT we do know that we will be living in our new tiny home on wheels and maybe we’ll have a puppy??? Hahaha

What product(s) of ours do you have onboard? How’s it working out for you?

We have the incredible Sirocco ll fans…..We have x2 fans in our campervan that point directly at the bed, which is absolute bliss. We basically have our fans on 24/7 and literally LOVE them. In our bus we are having THREE Sirocco ll fans because we love them that much. We will have 2 above the bed pointing directly at us when we sleep, and our other fan will either be in our kitchen area or in our dining / seating area.

We found you through an online community you’re a part of and seem to be actively involved with. What’s the vibe like these days? Are you finding more people are starting to live the way you are?

WE LOVE THE VANLIFE COMMUNITY. It is such a fun, adventurous, open minded, friendly vibe and we definitely think more and more people are becoming open to this type of lifestyle. Social media can have so many positives and we have definitely realised if we use these platforms wisely, they can be a really incredible way to connect in real life and find that community of people that really understand you.

It’s a weird time for the world. How have you been affected personally or how has your lifestyle changed recently?

The world is a wild place, and we are 100% grateful to have a tiny home ON WHEELS where we can decide to go and take a break in nature when needed and really disconnect from the energy of the world right now. Although we took off in our van at a weird time in the world, for us it was the most ideal thing to do as it allowed us to really look after our wellbeing and our relationship whilst navigating the challenges in society right now.

What is it like living in a van?? LIKE what is it REALLY like?

WELL, to be completely honest, the ebbs and flows of vanlife are VERY REAL. Just like they are in ‘house life’ but in a different way……..Vanlife = emptying a toilet, filling up with water every few days, checking we haven’t ran out of gas before going into the middle of nowhere…it means living in a small space with your partner and it can mean moving around and feeling a little lost at times. HOWEVER it ALSO means, parking up and always having your home to make epic snacks, having a nap wherever you want to (within reason), having that time freedom to adventure, surf, hike etc. IT ALSO MEANS meeting some of your lifelong best friends and realising that we are in charge of the life we want to live….we don’t have to live by ‘society’s timeline’. We love living in our van and we think we’ll always have some sort of rolling adventure home. We would HIGHLY recommend this lifestyle.
